The lack of criticism towards Kubrick’s filmography in cinephiles’ circles is surprising me. 2001 opens to Zarathustra’s fanfare, hard cuts from a bone to a spaceship, has a 10-minutes scene where a spaceship penetrates another over The Blue Danube, and finally demoes the last psychedelic technique from the special effects department. Apparently Kubrick is some sort of god so he must be applauded for assembling such a pile of pompous crap.
